A proud farmer talks about the future of agriculture in his family
Growing America highlights Billy Tabb, who started farming 185 acres of cotton, on rented land, in 2003. In 2016, he won the American Farm Bureau Federation’s National Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award. He is one proud farmer, and it shows.
“From the time I could remember, I wanted to go with my father to the field. I wanted to watch a tractor plow, I thought about it while I was at school. It is just a passion. I hate to hear people say how terrible it is to farm and all the woes we have, that is life.”
Tabb tries to make a point in his life to look at his situation in a positive light instead of always looking at the negatives in life. “I want to be positive about farming. It is amazing lifestyle and I wish more people could experience it,” he says.
“If you are passionate about farming, don’t be scared to try. Getcha some land and get after it. ”
