May is Mental Health Awareness Month. A strong majority of farmers and farmworkers say the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted their mental health, and more than half say they are personally experiencing more mental health challenges than they were a year ago, according to a new American Farm Bureau poll. The agriculture industry as a whole has recognized the importance of having conversations and shining a light on this once taboo topic.
DEKALB Asgrow reiterates the importance of showing support, but also not let pride get in the way. “Farmers take great pride in what they do. This pride takes many shapes and forms, specifically when facing adversity. But every farmer has faced difficult challenges and no one truly farms alone.”
