Firefighters, oil field workers rescue cow from cattle guard

It took a full team effort Wednesday morning to rescue this cow trapped in a cattle guard east of Greeley, Colorado. The Weld County Sheriff’s Office animal control officers, the Greeley Fire Department, and some oil field workers all pitched in to to get the Holstein free.
A specially made harness and hardware was used to remove the cow. Firefighters also used a hydraulic spreader to help remove the cow’s hooves from in between the grates. The oil field workers assisted in operating the front loader.
The cow did not have any broken legs and will make a full recovery.
