FFA advisor gets national recognition on ABC’s ‘Live with Kelly & Ryan’

This week is Teacher Appreciation, and one special agricultural teacher was recognized on Live with Kelly and Ryan. Krista Pontius — the agricultural teacher at Greenwood High School in Pennsylvania — has made it to the top four in Live‘s Top Teacher Search. The winner will take home $10,000 plus $10,000 in teacher project funding from Sonic.

In her description, Pontius is described as compassionate, selfless, and fun. “Over the past 10 years, Krista and her students have raised $55,000 and packed 150,000 meals which were given or distributed to the local food banks. She has also traveled to Haiti and worked in an orphanage helping the poorest of poor. She helps with many projects at her church including technical support each Sunday to live-stream the Service and teaches Sunday school. She recently said that teaching — whether it is the students in her own classroom or preservice teachers or other agricultural teachers across this country — is her life’s calling.”
