Top 3 ‘Your Dairy Checkoff Podcast’ episodes of the year

Published:

Your local and national Dairy Checkoff organizations came together in 2021 to create the Your Dairy Checkoff Podcast. This collaboration showcases examples of how dairy promotion programs are working together to build dairy sales and consumption, as well as consumer trust in today’s changing marketplace to maximize dairy farmers’ checkoff investment.

Each monthly episode is hosted by two dairy farmers who have a conversation on dairy promotion topics with two industry experts. These topics include consumer research, dairy nutrition, science, exports, and issues updates.

I encourage you to listen to the subscribe to the podcast series, but if you’re looking for a place to get started, here are the top three podcast episodes of 2021:

EPISODE 2 – What is the #1 factor driving school milk consumption?

Dairy farmers Alex Peterson (Missouri) and Audrey Donahoe (New York) joined Mark Bordeau, director of Food Services Broome-Tioga BOCES in New York, and Doug Adams, president of Prime Consulting Group and school milk research expert used by checkoff teams and MilkPEP, in a conversation on how school milk is sourced and served to students.

EPISODE 1 – Reaching Gen Z: Through the World of Gaming

Peterson and Florida dairy farmer Lindsey Rucks had a discussion with Jarrod Moses, chief executive of United Entertainment Group, and Jennie McDowell, vice president of business development at Dairy MAX. The guests spoke about Dairy Management Inc.’s successful project with three Minecraft influencers last year and Dairy MAX’s new partnership with Complexity Gaming to reach Gen Z consumers (ages 10 to 23). With 90 percent of Gen Z active in gaming, this platform provides a great opportunity to share dairy’s farm-to-table story in an engaging, interactive way. Gaming is a $100 billion industry, larger than sports, film, and music combined.

EPISODE 5 – Is The Dairy Checkoff Really Working And Worth The Money?

Dairy farmers Jess Peters (Pennsylvania) and Larry Hancock (Texas) did a deep dive on how the national and local dairy checkoffs are working to drive trust and sales of dairy products with DMI Chief Federation Officer Lucas Lentsch and Peter Vitaliano, vice president of economic policy and market research for National Milk Producers Federation, about the value of the dairy checkoff.
