During the second, third, and fourth general sessions of the 96th National FFA Convention & Expo this year in Indianapolis, Carroll County Middle FFA of Virginia, Stillwater FFA, and Bartlesville FFA were recognized for their outstanding achievements.
2023 Premier Chapter: Bartlesville FFA
Bartlesville FFA in Oklahoma facilitated a photo challenge scavenger hunt for members during their monthly chapter meeting. The one-hour group activity, managed by officers, required members to collaborate and accomplish a common goal by completing photo challenges. The activity was beneficial in using critical thinking in a competitive and fun environment, which promoted engagement and leadership development.
2023 Model Excellence Winner: Stillwater FFA
Stillwater FFA in Oklahoma taught farm fire safety by connecting members to their local fire department during a hands-on learning demonstration at the school farm. Members learned how to use a fire extinguisher as well as teamwork to fight fires and signed a pledge to practice fire safety. The chapter hosted fourth graders for a day where the children learned about animal handling practices, smoking bees, food safety and supporting agriculture.
2023 Model of Excellence Chapter: Carrol County Middle FFA
Carroll County Middle FFA of Virginia promoted agricultural literacy to children in their county during the public library’s “March is Ag Literacy Month” program. Each week during story time, members presented a different agriculture book with accompanying activities and take-home items for attendees. In another project, members provided a petting zoo at the annual Back to School Bash. The interactive FFA booth allowed parents and students to learn more about middle school FFA.
National Chapter Award program
The National Chapter Award program recognizes outstanding FFA chapters that actively implement the organization’s mission and strategies.
These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality FFA Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasizes growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership.
National FFA recognizes the top chapters with innovative activities in three divisions: growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Chapters that receive three-star ratings during judging are eligible to compete for the premier chapter awards. Ten FFA chapters competed for the honor.
