12 Food Science & Technology teams invited to poultry expo

The top 12 teams of the Food Science and Technology Career Development Event have been invited to attend the International Poultry Expo, part of the 2020 International Production & Processing Expo, as a result of the USPOULTRY Foundation’s continued initiative to attract students to the poultry and egg industry. The opportunity for teams of the Food Science and Technology CDE to attend is made possible in part by endowing Foundation gifts from Pilgrim’s and Cargill.

The students will receive an all-expense paid trip and will participate in a program led by poultry industry leaders who will advise them of the career opportunities in the industry. They will also have an opportunity to see and experience the exciting technology used by today’s modern, sustainable poultry industry, while visiting the vast IPPE trade show floor.

“This is the fourth year we have brought the Food Science and Technology CDE winners to the International Poultry Expo. The students, our member companies, exhibitors, the staff of FFA and our Foundation look forward to it each year. The opportunity to bring future leaders to the International Poultry Expo is tremendous in helping to recruit young talent,” remarked Barbara Jenkins, executive director of the USPOULTRY Foundation.

The following Food Science and Technology CDE teams have been invited to attend the International Production & Processing Expo. Their awards were presented by Jenkins and are listed in their order of finish: Big Walnut-DACC FFA, Ohio; Durant FFA, Florida; Kindred FFA, North Dakota; Bergen County Academies FFA, New Jersey; Florence FFA, Texas; Oley Valley FFA, Pennsylvania; Hermiston FFA, Oregon; Louisburg FFA, Kansas; Kimberly FFA, Idaho; Pipestone Area FFA, Minnesota; Streator FFA, Illinois; and Liberty Ranch FFA, California.
