For those who haven’t ventured over to the app, TikTok is a popular video-sharing platform among people in their late teens and early 20s, and has become very popular since its release in the United States in 2018. While TikTok is nothing new, it has received more attention from those of who are over the age of 25 during this time of quarantine and working from home. Just like any other high school student, FFA members have their fun on TikTok, while at the same time educating their peers. This is the reason we wanted to showcase 15 of the best FFA TikTok videos.
However, in recent weeks, news has spread that President Donald Trump is attempting to ban TikTok.
Back in November of 2019, the Trump Administration launched an investigation into the popular social media app and warned of privacy issues. However, that warning did not slow the popularity of TikTok. Especially during the coronavirus pandemic, the app became even more popular by Millennials, who were stuck at home and looking for a way to pass the time. While the status of TikTok is still up in the air, Trump did announce that the parent company, ByteDance, has until September 15 to find an American buyer or he will ban TikTok due to its privacy issues.

Like many apps these days, TikTok uses a recommendation algorithm to show you content that you will find interesting on the For You page. So, naturally, I constantly see dogs, cows, pranks, and dances that I so clumsily fail to master. But I also notice much of the FFA related content on my feed as well — from students to advisors and alumni representing the organization they love so much. This is a great creative outlet for students to express how they feel and what they are going through during these uncertain times.
So while I was scrolling through TikTok for a few minutes — OK let’s be real, a few hours — I realized I wanted to compile a list of FFA favorites. While this is a great list of FFA videos, this is not a comprehensive list for agriculture — there is so much more on TikTok including specific areas of agriculture such as dairy, row crop, beef, etc. Check out the list below to see the fifteen best FFA TikToks I’ve discovered so far!

While we are not for sure how long activity will last on this platform, this is just one of many ways the future of agriculture can be spread. For Millennials like myself, we have seen the rise and fall of once great social networking platforms — MySpace, Vine, MSN, and others — and will continue to watch others rise to fame. No matter where the people are, so will agriculture be. We should be proud that the future leaders of the ag industry have taken up this outlet and reached out to their peers and future consumers.
