Applying liquid manure to a growing crop can capture more nutrients than applying without a crop in the field. The corn is approaching V2/V4 stage growth, and according to OSU Extension research, a sidedress drag hose can be used across crop at this particular growth stage without a loss of yield. #manure17 #wisdomwednesday

“I rode horses before I could walk. When I was about a week old my parents moved down by the Columbia River. There were places where my Mom had to go with a horse to fix fence. So my Dad rigged up a bicycle basket and tied it on the back of her saddle. That’s where she kept me, was in that basket. Along with all her fencing tools, she built fence. We had hay fields down there and the next year my Dad was gonna put the hay fields into orchards, but when Wanapum Dam was built it flooded them out. It was pretty rustic for us growing up. We lived in a 2 room cabin and there were 5 kids. We had no running water, no electricity; we had a wood stove and kerosene lamps. I thought about that when I had my own kids and pushed the baby out to the pasture in a stroller to fix fence. I had my girls in 4-H with horses for years, they are all grown up now and I am still the horse 4-H leader. I have 7 kids that come once a week to ride here in our arena. I have helped a lot of kids over the years. They have earned a lot of ribbons and a couple of them are grand champions. I still show horses too. I just love, loving horses.” #agriculture #lovehorses
