In just three short weeks, 8,612 FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will participate in National FFA Week. From February 22 to 29, the FFA members will celebrate what FFA means to them. This is a great opportunity for FFA chapters to highlight the fun the members have, while also emphasizing agriculture education with its future leaders.
Every year, the National FFA Organization celebrates FFA Week during the week of George Washington’s birthday, February 22, in recognition of his legacy as an agriculturalist. FFA members organize activities that raise awareness not only about the National FFA Organization, but also the role agriculture plays in students’ lives.

Students across the country have started to prepare for this epic week. Many FFA chapters are able to educate those in their surroundings — including family, friends, and their community — during FFA week through their activities. While there are many fan favorites, don’t be afraid to change it up and try something new this year!
Ideas to involve the whole school/community
- A fun way to involve the whole school is for FFA members to orchestrate a daily question over the announcement system and have other students answer on slip of paper during lunch. This is a great opportunity to educate non-ag students on a variety of topics.
- A great thank you to teachers/staff is a home cooked breakfast early one morning. This is a wonderful way to show your appreciation for being more lenient with FFA members and taking time out for FFA.
- Don’t forget to include the younger students and get them interested in FFA early through a petting zoo or with show animals to teach students.
- A fun challenge during lunch would be to throw hay bales outside — the furthest one gets a gift card or some type of reward.
- A great way to connect with those around us is through social media. Have a photo challenge through your social media channels and include a fun hashtag! Don’t forget to include surrounding chapters for even more of an impact.
- Introduce your FFA family to your actual family with a family fun night – a movie and an ice cream social is always a fun event for all ages.
- Don’t forget to consider a community service event during FFA Week as well.
Fun twist
- A fun way to incorporate alumni in the community would be a basketball game — current members vs. alumni.
- Put your mind to the test with ag trivia or FFA jeopardy!
- A great way to showcase your program and the wide variety of interest of the students would be a Supervised Agricultural Experience showcase day.
- Try branching out and invite local chapters to participate in one event together. Depending on chapter size, a fun event would be to go bowling or even dodge ball for a fun game.
Fan favorites
- Dress up days are very popular during National FFA Week. A few ideas include America Monday, Tractor Tuesday, Flannel Friday, blue & gold, camo, dress up as your future career, hat day, FFA t-shirt day, PJ day, or dress up like your favorite advisor ( or favorite historical figure in ag).
- Ag Olympics is also a fan favorite. There are so many stations for Olympics, but a few classics include stacking hay bales, finding a penny in a haystack, farm obstacle race, roping, tug of war, and an egg toss.
- Is it really FFA Week if you didn’t drive a tractor to school? This might only be an option in rural areas, but it is definitely a community favorite.
How you can help
Not an active FFA member? There are still ways you can help during National FFA Week. In addition to the activities organized by the students, the National FFA Organization is sponsoring an event for the the whole FFA community. For 24 hours on Tuesday, Feb. 25, the National FFA Organization will celebrate the spirit of giving in FFA with an online pep rally.

- Help spread the word by showing your FFA support with their printable selfie flyer. Download and print it, then take a selfie to share.
- Post why you love FFA using their copy and paste messages, or create your own for a personal touch.
Whatever you do to celebrate National FFA Week be sure to have fun, represent your chapter well, and share with others why you love FFA.
