Protect your fields with the next generation of nitrogen stabilization

Published:

Agriculture is a continuously evolving industry, and with constant challenges in the growing season, efficiency and proven protection is necessary to prepare your fields. In order to combat the effects brought on by unpredictable weather, including a nitrogen stabilizer in your planting plan is a valuable management tool to help increase your crop’s nitrogen use efficiency (NUE).

One solution helping to minimize against above-ground nitrogen loss from Koch Agronomic Services (Koch) is ANVOL™. A next-generation nitrogen stabilizer, ANVOL demonstrates extended protection, improved handling, and even more consistent performance across fields when compared to AGROTAIN®, the staple urease inhibitor for more than 25 years. The difference is DUROMIDE, a patented active ingredient delivering the longest-lasting urease inhibitor protection over a wider range of soil environments.

ANVOL saves time and labor

In Pennsylvania, Jeff O’Hara, knows first-hand the positive influence ANVOL has had in the fields he works with. As the fertilizer manager for GROWMARK in Bellefonte, he has a front-row seat to the product’s results. Before using ANVOL, his experience with other products included more time and effort to get the fertilizer applied in the fields. They were caking on the spreader and when left overnight, they would start to get hard, resulting in valuable time being wasted to break it up.

“We’ve had some ANVOL sit for a couple days and didn’t have a problem with it,” says O’Hara. “One customer had it sit for three to four days. He’d had experiences with other products prior to ANVOL, so he got out the sledgehammer to break it up but discovered he didn’t have to. He was happily surprised to not have that problem.”

Dual active ingredients work in tandem

ANVOL features the active ingredient NBPT — the same active also found in AGROTAIN. DUROMIDE works in tandem with NBPT to optimize the amount of fertilizer available for crop uptake. The high concentration of those ingredients allows for a low application rate, resulting in a more efficient coating, a drier blend and an overall reduction in labor demands.

The DUROMIDE difference means it can:

  • deliver protection across a wide range of soil environments and fertilizer blends.
  • slow urea breakdown over a long window of time.
  • allow more time for fertilizers to be incorporated while optimizing yield potential.
  • offer lower application rates and increased efficiency with a high active ingredient concentration.

Tested and trusted

ANVOL is a proven and trusted nitrogen stabilizer. Compared to other urease inhibitor technologies, ANVOL delivers the most stable protection against volatilization to maximize a higher return on your input investment. In a 2016 Louisiana State University trial, ANVOL reduced cumulative ammonia loss to 12 percent compared to losses of more than 30 percent with untreated urea.1

“I like the testing Koch does with their products,” says O’Hara. “Primarily, we have confidence in the product. The performance year after year is by far on top.”

As technical agronomy manager for Koch, Tim Laatsch encourages growers to make plans for nitrogen applications now and follow best practices in their area for nutrient stewardship. He knows what he’s talking about, he’s been farming in Illinois for the past 20 years.

“We know mitigating nutrient loss is essential for increasing NUE,” says Laatsch. “Stabilizers that are highly efficient can help to keep nitrogen where it needs to be for crop uptake to optimize yield potential. That’s what ANVOL can do to help growers.”
