Overview

The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Tarleton State University enhances global agriculture and natural resources. We develop leaders by delivering innovative experiential learning, conducting relevant research and providing community and global service. We build life-long relationships among faculty, staff and students.

Teaching agricultural sciences has been an integral part of Tarleton since its founding in 1899. For its first 50 years, the school was known as John Tarleton Agricultural College. Today that tradition is stronger than ever, with our college enrollment exceeding 2,400 students. Tarleton ranks among the top Texas programs in the number of students majoring in agriculture, and third nationally among non-land grant universities.

Tarleton’s main campus is in Stephenville, Texas, which is known as the Cowboy Capital of the World. Tarleton also offers programs in Fort Worth, Waco, Midlothian, and online.

Tarleton State University Agriculture Center

The Tarleton State University Agriculture Center is located just minutes from the main campus in Stephenville and operates to provide an academically progressive and diverse instructional laboratory that represents the current agricultural industry and complements curriculum theory. The main goals of the Tarleton Agriculture Center are to demonstrate and teach our students environmental stewardship, provide safe and educational work experiences, and impart proper facility and resource management including land, equipment, crops, and livestock. Our Ag Center includes a brand-new Animal and Plant Sciences Center with six state-of-the-art teaching laboratories, a merchandising space, 40,000 square feet of covered animal pens, and four automated greenhouses. Other spaces include Agricultural Mechanics, Meats Lab, Equine Center, Wildlife Field Lab, Swine Center, Rabbitry, and the Southwest Regional Dairy Center. Our students are learning in some of the best university facilities available.
