Missouri community completes harvest for fallen farmer

The Burlington Junction, Missouri community recently came together to help a family finish harvest after the sudden passing of fellow farmer Brian McPherson. According to KMA Land radio, eight combines and six auger wagons rolled through McPherson’s 200 acres as local farmers honored his memory. A farmer his entire life, McPherson was also a 30-year member and EMT for the 140 Rescue Squad  30-year member of the Nodaway County Fair Board.

The outpouring of support in Missouri was echoed across the U.S this harvest as other communities pitched in for friends in need. Thirty Council Bluffs, Iowa farmers recently stepped up to harvest their friend’s farm after he passed away from stage 4 lung cancer. Farm Rescue, a nonprofit organization, helped Randy Wedeking and wife Brenda bring in their 1,200 acres of corn in Butler County, North Dakota last week, after he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease. Fifty farmers from the Bluffs and Chapin, Illinois communities helped harvest what remained of Don Schone’s 525 acres of corn and soybeans, after he passed away at the end of August.
