The Delano, California FFA chapter is asking for the public’s support after a dog killed three of their lambs and injured five more earlier this month.
According to the Delano FFA Lamb Relief GoFundMe, the incident happened early morning on July 19 at the Delano High School Farm when a dog got onto the property and attacked several Delano FFA students’ lambs. After the trauma the lambs endured, three of them had to be put down immediately and five more were severely injured.
The chapter is now seeking financial support for the students, who were planning on selling the lambs at the Kern County Fair and the Delano Livestock Fair.
“This will leave six students without a project and costs they may not be able to cover. We are seeking support for them. These students have spent countless hours attending to their lambs in an effort to excel during the competition season. Big or small, everything helps with what these kids are experiencing right now.
“We are looking to cover the costs of the students projects, replacement animals that have to be sourced at the last minute and offset the Emergency Veterinary services that had to be rendered in order to provide triage care.”
So far Delano FFA is just shy of $3,000. Their goal is to raise $10,000.
