Drone captures damage drunk driver did to Ohio corn field

Published:

The Mercer County, Ohio Sheriff’s Department is thankful a local individual donated their drone to scope out the damage a drunk driver did this week joyriding through a farmer’s corn field.

Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey released the aerial photo below of crop damage that occurred July 15 in the area of Brown and Meyer road(s) outside Celina. The damage occurred when an intoxicated motorist went off the roadway through several fields. The aerial photo was made possible by an individual who donated the drone to the Sheriff’s Office for assisting deputies who would otherwise be unable to scope out the entire path of destruction done.

“We in Mercer County are fortunate to have caring citizens who help us gain the tools we use and are also fortunate that this community supports local law enforcement,” Sheriff Gray said.

The drone is also used for accident reconstruction and in the event of a missing person, as well as a variety of other things. The Sheriff’s office said they greatly appreciate the community support.

The driver’s identity has not yet been released by the sheriff’s office.
