The 97th National FFA Convention & Expo is fast approaching, set for October 23 to 26, 2024, in Indianapolis. This multi-day event promises to be the highlight of the year for FFA members across the country, filled with opportunities to learn, compete, and celebrate their achievements. Registration opens at 6 p.m. ET tonight, and attendees are gearing up for an unforgettable experience.
Attendees of the National FFA Convention & Expo can look forward to a packed schedule of activities. Full registration offers access to key events like the American FFA Degree Ceremony, the Expo, and student and teacher workshops. Concerts, rodeos, and entertainment
Exciting entertainment options await at this year’s convention, including a concert sponsored by Culver’s featuring Megan Moroney with special guest Nate Smith on October 23. Other highlights include the World’s Toughest Rodeo and a hypnotist performance. Only registered attendees can access these exclusive events.
For those unable to attend in person, FFA Live! will broadcast the event starting with the opening gavel through the election of National FFA Officers. Tune in for daily highlights and stories from student reporters via the Inside Convention show.
Awards and recognition
The National FFA Convention & Expo is a time to honor outstanding members with awards like the Agricultural Proficiency Awards, Agriscience Fair recognitions, and American Star Awards. It’s also the moment when many members earn the prestigious American FFA Degree, marking a major milestone in their FFA journey.
Musical talents from the National FFA Band and Chorus will take the stage, continuing a tradition that has spanned over 70 years. Meanwhile, FFA members with unique skills can compete in the National FFA Talent competition for the title of best performer.
FFA members to serve
A key part of the convention is the National Days of Service, where members have the chance to give back to Indianapolis through local nonprofit work or on-site service projects. FFA members will collaborate with Meals on Wheels to create loom potholders and take part in an evening service activity assembling Celebration boxes for local residents.
FFA chapters nationwide are encouraged to host their own service events during this time, contributing to the broader mission of giving back to their communities. The FFA National Days of Service Toolkit provides the resources needed to plan impactful projects.
Motivational speakers
This year’s keynote speaker, Kevin Wanzer, will energize and inspire attendees with his motivational comedy. Speaking at the opening sessions on October 23 and 24, Wanzer will encourage student leaders to create inclusive and supportive environments, leaving the audience ready to make a difference in their schools and communities.
Temple Grandin will also speak at the convention on October 25 during the fourth general session. Grandin, a professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University, is renowned for designing handling facilities for livestock used by companies around the world. She has also been instrumental in implementing animal welfare auditing programs used by McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Whole Foods, and other corporations.
From October 23 to 26, the National FFA Convention & Expo will celebrate the dedication and talents of FFA members from across the country. Whether you’re competing, learning, or enjoying the entertainment, the convention promises an experience that will leave a lasting impact.
