With the return of dances and activities post-COVID, high schoolers are getting creative with popping “the question” — that is, the question centered around securing a prom date. One Wisconsin teen, though, has set the bar high with his promposal this year — and it happened to be on his family’s farm.
Ryan Hazeltine, a junior at Parkview High School in Orfordville, Wisconsin, is well-versed in the farming world. His parents own a dairy and crop farm in Janesville, and Ryan is an active member of the FFA.
When it came time to ask his girlfriend, Abby Anderson, to prom, he knew exactly what to do. So Ryan set out making plans to ask her using the same farm ground his family raises crops on. All he needed was permission to use the tractor, harrow, one of the farm’s fields, and his drone to capture the whole thing.
“He wanted to be original, and though this would be a neat way to do it. He didn’t think his dad would be on board,” Ryan’s mom, Tiffany, told AGDAILY.
Luckily, Ryan’s dad was on board. And, so the father-son duo set out to eyeball their field, prepare their design, and get to harrowing — on their John Deere tractor (can you hear Joe Diffie now?)
Instead of planning their design out using GPS or other technology, Ryan and his dad decided they’d just eyeball it. And, I think we can all agree, it turned out awesome!
“They figured if they messed it up, they could just start over in a different field. They honestly were just as surprised it turned out the way it did,” Tiffany said.
As for Abby Anderson. Obviously, she said yes.
